This guide will show you how to easily import bitmapped images into your documents.

Step 1
Open a new document (File > New) with the First Layer Type being a vector layer.

If you have an existing document, create a new layer by clicking on the New Layer icon in the Layer List window, or select Layers > New > Vector Layer from the main menu.

*Note: You can only import images onto a vector layer, so if your layer is a bitmap layer, use Layers > To Vector Layer from the main menu.

From the main menu, choose File > Insert Image (Ctrl + I).

Step 3
Resize the image to fit your document work space by clicking and dragging the corner handles around the selected image layer.

Tip: Hold down Shift while you resize the image to maintain the proportions.

That’s it!

*Note: If you want to use pixel editing and painting tools on the image, you will need to convert it to a Pixel Layer using Layers > To Pixel Layer from the main menu.
